Wandsworth Special Schools - Rebound Therapy Model of Excellence

Through consultation with Nick Miller (manager of Wandsworth School Sport Partnership) and Tim Richmond (Wandsworth Special Schools SSCO) Russell Walker has recently completed the implementation of Rebound Therapy in the borough’s three special schools: Greenmead, Linden Lodge and Paddock Schools.

Consultation at the initial stages included advice on equipment purchase through to the training of staff in the schools, the writing of policy, gaining consent, risk assessment, writing lesson plans and guidance on how to measure progress. Those trained included teachers, support staff, physiotherapists and occupational therapists.

All three schools are now using Rebound Therapy as part of their curriculum on a regular basis and the students are clearly benefiting from it. All three schools now have a thorough policy and risk assessment in place
